By: E&P Staff US Ink, Carlstadt, N.J., has released the latest edition of its interactive and searchable Press Doctor CD, an integral component of US Ink's RealColor program which focuses on the theory and practical application of best practices in lithography.
New among technical solutions contained in the 1,100-plus pages of what Cheeseman calls a "coldset printer's bible" are updated Specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production (SNAP), guidelines included; technical tips for obtaining SNAP certification; updated graphics and hyperlinks to aid learning and interactivity; updated lithographic terms and an expanded glossary; misting information update; and temperature effect on print quality.
"Press Doctor not only helps printers solve existing problems, but more importantly, makes them aware of what can be done to prevent problems. In this sense, it's a proactive piece of software where related topics are hyperlinked so that various facets of a subject can be studied sequentially," US Ink Customer Service Director Dennis Cheeseman said in a statement.
