By: E&P Staff Not allowing the opportunity to slip by, USA Today is publishing a 48-page special edition tabloid about the upcoming presidential inauguration. "Obama: The Historical Journey? will go on sale at newsstands for $4.95 on Jan. 8 through Feb. 2. The edition will be distributed with USA Today on Jan. 20.
The national newspaper plans to increase its press run Jan. 20 and Jan. 21.
The special edition looks at election of the first African-American president along with a personal biography and the role of Michelle Obama as "Mom in Chief." Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his family are featured in addition to nine "key" speeches made by incoming President Barack Obama.
Meanwhile the Chicago Sun-Times has run a special high-quality photo of the Obamas inserted in single-copy editions three times since the election. The first two times the heavily promoted insert ran, single-copy sales increased 32% by 60,000 copies.
