Jim Lenahan has been promoted to managing editor of USA WEEKEND. Lenahan previously served as director of Gannett Custom Media/USA TODAY Premium Publications. He will report to Dave Callaway, USA TODAY editor-in-chief.
"Jim's background and experience innovating for both print and digital properties make him the right fit to lead USA WEEKEND," said Callaway. "Jim is a strong leader and will work tirelessly to enhance the content of USA WEEKEND and engage its more than 47 million readers."
During his time as director of Gannett Custom Media/USA TODAY Premium Publications, Lenahan led a department that produced high-end glossy magazines and other premium publications for USA TODAY. In addition, he also produced custom newspaper sections and content packages used by Gannett's U.S. Community Publishing.
Lenahan began his career in 1990 as a reporter with the then Gannett-owned Register Star in Rockford, IL. He moved to The Courier-Journal in Louisville in 1996 where he served as sports copy editor before being promoted to news copy editor and then weekend news editor. He also launched and served as editor of Velocity, a weekly lifestyle and entertainment publication by The Courier-Journal. In 2006, Lenahan was named managing editor, features and non-daily publications for The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA. Lenahan is a graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington. He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
