USATODAY.com PICKS AOL DIGITAL CITY TO BUILD CITY GUIDES

America Online and USAToday.com have signed a deal that puts AOL's Digital
City content on Gannett's online news site, Reuters reports.

AOL's Digital City will be the exclusive local provider to USAToday.com,
providing news and information, entertainment, classifieds, directories,
and maps to the site's 'Local City Guide.' Other Digital City content will
also appear in other sections of USAToday.com.

By using news and information from an outside provider, USAToday.com is
taking a different approach from other newspaper companies such as Knight
Ridder, which draws content from its papers for its Real Cities network
of Web sites. However, the deal makes sense for USAToday.com because it's
a national site covering cities where parent Gannett Co. Inc. doesn't own
newspapers, observed newspaper consultant Miles E. Groves.

Digital City will handle the advertising sales for the local city guides.
