USAToday.com Segments Audience for Ads

Posted
By: E&P Staff To help advertisers target the consumers they want, USAToday.com recently created seven pre-packaged segments of its readers, based on users' registration data and their online behavior.

The categories include self-directed investors, travelers, male sports fans, early adopters of technology, automobile shoppers, women, and affluent households. The site also offers customized segmentation for advertisers targeting other groups.

These segments can "be refined or even redefined in a matter of minutes," said USAToday.com Vice President of Advertising Lorraine Ross, in a statement.

The site creates its audience segmentation and targeting with software from Tacoda Systems of New York.
