Utica, N.Y. 'Observer-Dispatch' Appoints Editor

By: E&P Staff Jon K. Broadbooks has been named editor of the Observer-Dispatch in Utica, N.Y.

Broadbooks, 38, has been executive editor of the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American for the past two years. He served as managing editor of the paper from 2000-03.

He also served as business editor and assistant city editor at The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., from 1994-98. He then became assistant managing editor for news at the Montgomery Advertiser in Montgomery, Ala.

Broadbooks replaces John Dye, who left in late 2004 to become editor of the Green Bay (Wis.) Press-Gazette.
