ROME — Two Italian journalists who wrote tell-all books about financial mismanagement in the Roman Catholic Church are now facing the wrath of the Vatican.
A Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said this week that the journalists, Gianluigi Nuzzi and Emiliano Fittipaldi, were under investigation for “possible participation in the dissemination of reserved information and confidential documents,” which is “a crime under the Vatican City criminal code.”
