LAS VEGAS — Vegas PBS has named Angie Carr its next general manager after the Clark County School District Board of School Trustees approved her appointment on Thursday, Oct. 8. She will begin on Monday, Jan. 4, 2027.
Carr is currently serving as vice president and chief impact officer at Nine PBS in St. Louis, Missouri, where she leads fundraising for community engagement initiatives and oversees grant and foundation strategy, funder relationships, long-term planning and the station’s outreach to community members with various perspectives, backgrounds and lived experiences.
At Nine PBS, Carr was instrumental in leading “Drawn In,” an Emmy Award-winning multimedia literacy project supporting reading and critical thinking, and “Teaching in Room 9,” a pandemic-era program that became an ongoing resource for families and educators. She also helped secure and support Ready To Learn funding for early literacy, family engagement and community-based learning.
“Angie’s experience bringing education, public media and community partnerships together makes her a strong choice to lead Vegas PBS,” said CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert. “Her leadership will help strengthen the station’s service to students, families and lifelong learners across Southern Nevada.”
Carr’s appointment follows a nationwide search. A committee of Vegas PBS staff and Southern Nevada education and broadcasting representatives recommended her, and Superintendent Ebert advanced the appointment to the Board of School Trustees.
“I believe public media is about giving people an authentic voice and helping communities thrive. We have an opportunity to create content that educates, connects and reaches the people who can benefit from it most, while working alongside our community to make a meaningful impact across Southern Nevada,” said Carr. “I also look forward to collaborating with Superintendent Ebert and her team to expand our partnerships in areas such as workforce development and early childhood learning.”
Carr joined Nine PBS 11 years ago and was promoted from director of community impact and shared experiences. She also served as director of special events at St. Louis’s Peabody Opera House, now Stifel Theatre. She and her family will make Las Vegas their home.
Carr’s experience aligns with Vegas PBS’ vision for educational services, workforce learning and local content. She emphasizes community listening, broader access across broadcast and digital platforms, and partnerships that support long-term public service.
John Turner will remain interim general manager through Jan. 3, 2027, and support Carr’s transition.
