(
Mediaweek) Award-winning newsman Jerry Nachman died Tuesday following a year-long battle with cancer. He was 57.
Nachman had an illustrious career in radio, television and print having served as the news director for both WNBC-TV and WCBS-TV in New York and as editor-in-chief of the New York Post from 1989 to 1992.
More recently, Nachman was vice president and editor-in-chief of MSNBC and, in addition, served as a writer for ""Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher"" and the now-cancelled drama ""UC: Undercover.""
""Jerry Nachman will be remembered not only for what he brought to the news -- insight, context and a relentless search for the truth -- but also for what he brought to the newsroom -- integrity, tenacity and a refreshing splash of humor,"" said NBC News President Neal Shapiro. ""He will be missed by all of us at NBC News.""
