Virginian-Pilot to Lay Off 32 by End of the Year

The Virginian-Pilot will lay off 32 people, or nearly 4 percent of its workforce of 841, by the end of the year, the newspaper's publisher told employees Wednesday. Most of the cuts will be in The Pilot's operations and circulation departments, said David Mele, president and publisher of the newspaper.
