By: E&P Staff The K4 publishing system from vjoon (formerly SoftCare), Boenningstedt, Germany, with more than 300 installations worldwide, is now compatible with Adobe C2 Creative Suite 4 in the newly released version 5.9 R8. All K4 modules, including the Web editor, file manager, K4 Overview, and plug-ins, have been fine-tuned to work with the latest Adobe software, thereby creating one of the first full-fledged publishing systems for CS4.
Adobe InDesign plug-ins vjoon Notes Manager, vjoon Overset Manager, and vjoon Revision Manager also may be used with Creative Suite 4.
Adobe Creative Suite 4 delivers radical workflow breakthroughs and is packed with hundreds of feature innovations to save time while arming an organization with new ways to expand its services and deliver high-quality output in the face of tough competition, Adobe Creative Solutions senior product manager Roger Risdal said in a statement.
K4 5.9 for CS4 addresses version 5.9 users who want to quickly update to CS4, allowing them to gain experience with Creative Suite now, and in the next step, benefit from the possibilities of K4 6.0, Product Manager Christian H. Hollstein said.
The release comes with bug fixes and new silent-installer technology for roll-out at large sites, cutting software implementation costs, especially for first-time users.
As part of the adaptation to CS4, K4 also now supports Adobe InCopy's ICML format, which facilitates links to third-party systems and improves data exchange.
