By: E&P Staff Video and social networking company VMIX will power Media General's online videos, photos, and blogs across the company's 50 newspaper and TV properties.
VMIX's software provides users with tools to post photos, videos, and other content on Media General sites. It also serves as a common platform for premium content.
"VMIX is pleased to provide Media General with the opportunity to accelerate its efforts to offer and manage user-generated content and other video assets on its local media Web sites," said Greg Kostello, CEO of VMIX, in a statement.
VMIX does not participate in a revenue-share should Media General choose to allow advertisers to buy space around content powered by VMIX. The San Diego-based company counts Tribune and the San Diego Union-Tribune as customers.
