By: Editorial Staff Veronis, Suhler & Associates, a New YOrk-based investment bank specializing in media properties, has formed its third and biggest equity buyout fund. The fund has $1 billion investments, mainly from corporate pension funds, as well as banks and individuals.
VS&A Communications Partners III, or Fund III, will invest in companies from a range of media segements, including cable, broadcasting, publishing, and information services.
Fund III has a target portfolio of about 15 companies, each valued at between $100 million and $500 million. International investments are expected to comprise 15% to 20% of the fund.
Its predecessors, Funds I and II, initially invested in 18 companies and completed more than 65 acquisitions.
"This is a highly liquid market for mergers and acquisitions, "" says Veronis, Suhler & Associates president John Suhler.
He hopes to take advantage of ongoing communications industry consolidation, which he expects to yield significant growth opportunities.
Running the new fund, in addition to Suhler, are managing general partners John Veronis, Jeffrey Stevenson, Gerard Benford, and Martin Visconti, and principals John Sinatra, Marco SOdi, Scott Troeller, and Mitchell Haber.
