Many journalists dream of writing a book, and The Wall Street Journal will be asking some of its own to do exactly that. The newspaper joined book publisher Simon & Schuster yesterday in announcing the creation of a new imprint called Wall Street Journal Books.
Writers and editors at the Journal will originate content for at least 12 titles a year under the joint publishing effort. Work on the first book will begin in 2000, but will not appear on shelves until early 2001. The series will publish both major non-fiction works by individual reporters and topical books under career development, education, and personal finance.

Stephen Adler, assistant managing editor of The Wall Street Journal, will oversee the Journal's role in the publishing venture. Douglas Sease will be the Journal's editor for the series.
