WAN-IFRA Future & Change Study Under Way

Posted
By: E&P Staff The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), the University of Central Lancashire and the Norwegian School of Management are preparing their second annual World Newspaper Future & Change Study, and ask newspaper executives to take a survey about their company's business strategy and ability to change with market demands.

The global study aims to better understand and quantify responses to challenges the industry faces. The 2009 survey found most respondents were in growth mode, creating new print and digital products and new businesses, such as training and events, despite the financial downturn.

The 21 questions no more than 15 minutes to complete. Respondents receive a copy of the World Newspaper Future & Change Study following the World Newspaper Congress and World Editors Forum, to be held in Beirut, Lebanon, June 7-10 (www.wanlebanon2010.com). All respondents' identities remain confidential.

The study is conducted under the WAN-IFRA Shaping the Future of the Newspaper project, which identifies, analyzes and publicizes breakthroughs and opportunities that can benefit newspapers worldwide. The project provides WAN-IFRA members with Strategy Reports on these developments, a library of case studies and business ideas, and other information for all those who need to follow industry trends.

WAN-IFRA conducts the SFN project with support from German printing equipment maker manroland, Norwegian telecommunications, IT and media group Telenor, publishing systems supplier Atex, and Norwegian newsprint producer N?rske Skog.

The survey questionnaire is available in several languages, among them English, Spanish Spanish and French.
