By: (AP) The Washington Post Co. said Tuesday it has completed its corporate restructuring, which was mainly done to turn the company's flagship newspaper into a wholly owned subsidiary.
Previously, the newspaper was an operating division.
Washington Post Co. said its Class A and Class B common stock and Series A preferred stock were automatically converted into identical, newly issued shares of the new holding company -- which is named The Washington Post Co.
The Class B shares of the holding company continue to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WPO. The shares were at $676.01 in midday trading Tuesday, down $4.42, or 0.6%.
The holding company also publishes magazines, most notably
Newsweek, and has broadcast and cable television operations. Its Kaplan Educational Centers unit offers test preparation services.
