By: E&P Staff Colbert I. King, The Washington Post columnist and editorial writer whose dogged reporting on the murder of a former New York Times reporter sparked several investigations in to emergency response practices, is leaving the paper's editorial board, according to Washingtonian magazine.
The magazine, in a Web item, revealed that King told Washington Post Company chairman Donald Graham that he would depart at the end of the year.
?It?s been a great ride,? King, a deputy editorial-page editor told The Washingtonian. 'The world has changed. It needs a different pair of eyes.?
King, 67, will not leave the paper entirely, continuing to write a Saturday Op-Ed column, show up on Post radio, and join the chattering class on Sunday TV talk shows.

In June, E&P Senior Editor Joe Strupp
profiled King, speaking to him about his dogged investigation into the death of former New York Times reporter David Rosenbaum, who was gunned down on a Washington D.C. street early this year.
