Posted
By: (AP) The Washington Post is admitting it erred in a report that Sen. Byron Dorgan joined Sen. Conrad Burns in supporting legislation that provided a three million-dollar grant to a wealthy American Indian tribe in Michigan.

An aide to Burns acknowledged providing the inaccurate information published by the Post yesterday.

An Associated Press story on the Post report about the grant to the Saginaw Chippewas noted that a Dorgan aide told the AP the report was inaccurate, and the North Dakota Democrat wasn't involved.

The Saginaw Chippewas got the money for a new school last year while a client of Jack Abramoff, a Republican lobbyist whose practices are under federal investigation.

Burns is a Republican from Montana.
