'Washington Post' Making Changes to Its Comics Lineup

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Washington Post is making several changes in its comics lineup effective March 19.

Joining the section will be the strips "Agnes" (Tony Cochran/Creators Syndicate), which stars a precocious lower-income girl; and "Brewster Rockit: Space Guy!" (Tim Rickard/Tribune Media Services), a space-adventure parody.

Also, the offbeat "Brevity" panel (Guy Endore-Kaiser and Rodd Perry/United Media) is being added to alternate with "Close to Home" (John McPherson/Universal Press Syndicate). Another offbeat panel, "Speed Bump" (Dave Coverly/Creators), will now run seven days a week.

And, on March 25, the Post will begin running "Lio" (Mark Tatulli/Universal) as a Sunday-only strip.

Meanwhile, the Post is dropping three strips ("Broom-Hilda," "Cathy," and "Mary Worth") and two panels ("The Flying McCoys" and "The Other Coast"). But those comics will continue to be carried on WashingtonPost.com.

The Post comics changes were reported today on The Daily Cartoonist blog.
