'Washington Post' Unit Buys Virginia Weekly

By: E&P Staff Community Newspaper Group, a division of The Washington Post Co., will close on its purchase of the Fairfax County (Va.) Times next Monday.

Terms of the purchase of the weekly from Times Community News, publisher of the weekly Loudoun Times-Mirror and other community newspapers in Virginia, were not disclosed.

"Our company is extremely happy with the outcome and regards this as a win-win for all," Times-Mirror Publisher and President Peter Arundel said in a statement.

Arundel added he has no plans to sell the Times-Mirror or any of the company's other four newspapers, but intends to focus on the home markets of the Loudoun and Piedmont-based newspapers.
