'Washington Times' Cartoonist Retires

Posted
By: E&P Staff Peter Steiner, whose topical daily cartoon has appeared in The Washington Times for 21 years, is retiring.

Steiner -- known for his talking animals -- will continue to draw cartoons on occasion as well as paint. He'll also work on a sequel to his first novel, "A French Country Murder," that was published last year. The 63-year-old Cincinnati native has a summer home in the Loire Valley of France.

Starting today, "Mallard Fillmore" -- the conservative comic strip by Bruce Tinsley of King Features Syndicate -- will move to Page 2 in the Times.
