By: E&P Staff The Washington Times has hired Karyn Gruenberg as marketing director. In addition to branding and awareness, advertising, public relations and communications, creative services, sales-related research, proposals and presentations, Gruenberg assumes responsibility for developing marketing partnerships.

Gruenberg will report to Thomas Culligan, the Times' chief revenue and marketing officer, who noted that "her background includes everything from staging international events to launching new social media initiatives, which aligns perfectly with our future."

For the last 12 years, Gruenberg was marketing and communications vice president for Meet Minneapolis, the city's convention and visitors association, which was recognized as a leader in Web-based marketing and communications. She helped Minneapolis-St. Paul secure the 2008 Republican National Convention and led the 1998 World Figure Skating Championships as its executive director.

Before joining Meet Minneapolis, Gruenberg was marketing director for Target Center, then the city's new entertainment and sports arena.
