'Washington Times' Names New M.E.

By: E&P Staff David Jones is the new managing editor of The Washington Times.

Jones joined the newspaper in 1990 as deputy foreign editor. In 1994 he was promoted to foreign editor, a position he has held for 14 years. During his 18 years at the Times, he has traveled to more than 20 countries.

He began his career at the Toronto Globe and Mail in his native Canada before starting his work in foreign news coverage at United Press International in 1979. Jones spent 11 years at the news service. During his tenure he worked around the world, including Toronto, Washington, Hong Kong, Manila, and Nairobi. He also worked in London as European editor during the 1989 fall of communism in Eastern Europe.
