WASHINGTONPOST.com GETS PERSONAL

Posted
By: Staff Reports Site Launches Personalization Tools

The Washington Post's Web site on Tuesday launched
mywashingtonpost.com,
hoping to attract new users and to extend the amount of time that
existing users spend on the site. Previously, the site offered
limited personalization opportunities in its OnWashington local
information section and in the business and jobs sections.

Mywashingtonpost.com allows users to customize content from all
areas of the site into one page, including their choices for
news, sports, weather, lottery, traffic, stocks, comics, and
more.

The Post pulled the plug on the old OnWashington section,
which was a customized portal from MyWay.com of Mountain View,
Calif. Included in OnWashington were Yellow Pages business
directories and community self-publishing tools. The Yellow Pages
component has been moved to washingtonpost.com's Marketplace
section, while the community tools went to the online Metro
section.
