Washingtonpost.com's Top Ten 'Best Investigations' List Downplays 'Post' Probes

Posted
By: Joe Strupp Despite winning six Pulitzer Prizes just a few weeks ago, including the coveted Public Service Award, The Washington Post showed it could be humble, naming only two of its prize-winning stories in an online Top 10 List of Newspaper Investigations.

And the two Post entries were listed 9th and 10th.

Giving the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer first place for its "Sold a Nightmare" examination of housing foreclosures, the Post's Investigations Blog then went on to cite work done by the Chicago Tribune, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and even the rival New York Times before tossing kudos to the Post's work.

Coming in ninth was the heralded Walter Reed expose by Dana Priest and Anne Hull, followed at 10th place by Bart Gellman and Jo Becker's Dick Cheney series. The lower ranking comes three weeks after the Post won the Public Service Pulitzer for the Walter Reed series and Gellman and Becker took the National Reporting Pulitzer.
