By: E&P Staff It's not exactly a shock that The Frontiersman, the weekly in Wasilla, Alaska, would endorse John McCain this week -- unlike many other papers in the state it has found little to criticize in hometown fave Sarah Palin -- but the tone is a little surprising, especially with so much national focus on the small town.
Here's a sample: "Aside from domestic agendas, we?re a nation at war. America needs as its Commander-in-Chief a warrior, not a wimp."
The paper also blamed the Democrats for the current financial crisis--for passing laws that allowed all those bad loans. Oddly, unlike most papers across the country, it had very little to say about how Palin helps the ticket and if she is ready to serve as Commander-in-Chief.
The paper has button for a "Reader's Poll" next to the link for the editorial on its home page -- but no poll appears. It's not known if it was put up and taken down for some reason.
At the paper's site, the top reader's Comment on the editorial at present is: " I love that Alaska is the only socialist state in the union... " About 7 out of 10 of the dozens of comments so far hit the editorial.
One reader: " How stupid is that to vote for a vice president with no regard to who is really running. Come on. That is fine if you like Palin but to cast a vote simply because you are a Valley resident only shows how ignorant and blinded Valley folks are and I know a lot of them that are close friends of Palin's that will vote because of jut that. Friendship. Please get informed and vote for the overall good of the country. If you feel McCain is best then so be it. But don't vote just because Palin is Wasillan. "
Another: "You gotta be kidding me..this Editorial is written like a teenage girl angry at her ex-boyfriend. The name calling and finger pointing is pure childish. So, you're saying if you don't serve in the Military you cannot be president now? Well, how about saying if you don't go to a real collage like Harvard, you can't be president?"
