By: Mark Fitzgerald RedEye, the youth-skewing, fast-read tabloid created by the Chicago Tribune, has begun delivering Parade magazine in its free home-delivered weekend editions.
The new program, launched Saturday, expands Parade's distribution in Chicago to reach households that do not subscribe to the Sunday Tribune, RedEye General Manager Brad Moore said in an interview Tuesday. "The way we've set it up is that anybody who reads RedEye Weekend who is not a Sunday Tribune subscriber gets inserts, including Parade," he said.
RedEye began delivering the weekend edition last month to homes that sign up for delivery, and also through a heavy sampling campaign. The weekend edition distributes 100,000, of which nearly 25,000 are requested deliveries, Moore said.
On weekdays, RedEye distributes 150,000 copies free through stacks and newsracks along Chicago mass transit routes and in neighborhood with substantial numbers of young adults.
