Weeklies, Bi-weeklies Sold in East, West

By: E&P Staff Four newspapers recently changed hands. All sellers were represented by W.B. Grimes & Co. of Gaithersburg, Md.

Portico Publications of Charlottesville, Va., purchased the Free Times, a weekly newspaper in Columbia, S.C., from founder Amy Singmaster.

The Staten Island (N.Y.) Media Group acquired the bi-weekly Staten Island Shopper's Guide and Brooklyn Shopper's Guide from Rosnik Publishing.

JimCam Publications bought Our Town, a weekly newspaper covering northern New Jersey, from Kathy and Jim Panos.

And The Mountain-Ear, a weekly newspaper in Nederland, Colo., was sold to LorMar Investments. The seller was Kay Turnbaugh.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
