Wegener Buys First Wifag 4-by-1 Presses

By: E&P Staff The Wegener Grafisch Groep subsidiary of the Netherlands' Koninklijke Wegener NV (Royal Wegener) placed a large order for a new press from Wifag, Bern, Switzerland.

Wegener, the largest publisher of Dutch dailies and weeklies (total daily print run of approximately 1 million copies; weekly print run of 7.2 million), will install four printing presses with a total of 128 printing couples.

The press is Wifag's new (OF 375 S, a doublewide, one-page-around (4-by-1) blanket to blanket offset model based on Wifag's modular design. Wegener is the first to buy the press, which, according to Wifag, possesses "a high degree of automation" and performance equal to its two-around double-and triplewide models.
