2025 is here in all its glory. However, as I write this, my husband (and publisher/business partner) Mike would tell you that Christmas has “thrown up” all over our living area. Between the “almost there” Christmas decorations, menu-planning lists and gift-wrapping chaos, our house is a bit too festive.
Every year I resolve that I’ll have a better handle on things going into the holiday season, and I’ll be more organized, less stressed and more able to soak in the experiences. Oh, well, maybe next year.
New Year’s resolutions are fun — sometimes funny — but always something to work toward. When we asked some industry leaders to send us their resolutions, we quickly found that they can also be serious business. Bob Sillick, with his team of industry leaders, created a wonderful article of New Year’s resolutions. It is filled with thoughtful ideas about how they will approach 2025.
This is a time of incredible change in our industry — and more than a little trepidation. Reading these resolutions taught me that industry leaders are embracing the changes, looking for innovative ways forward and enthusiastically approaching 2025. (I guess that’s what makes them leaders!)
Are you making resolutions for 2025? Resolutions can be a great way to set goals and work toward desired outcomes, whether personal or business. I haven’t decided whether to set personal resolutions this year or follow the lead of Bill Watterson, the cartoonist of Calvin and Hobbes fame: “I’m resolving to just wing it and see what happens.”
For E&P, 2025 is full of new exciting plans — resolutions of sorts. We’re developing new salutes and a workplace award. One of the things I’m most excited about is a newsletter focused entirely on philanthropy and funding efforts for journalism. Diane Sylvester, who wrote “Journalism’s funding surge” for this issue, will work closely with me to highlight the philanthropy stories across our industry.
Stay tuned and watch your emails for details. And most of all, welcome to 2025. May it be filled with success and learning for us all!
