The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation has awarded West Virginia University's journalism school a $105,000 grant to help rural newspapers adapt to the digital age.
It's the second grant that the foundation has awarded to the "West Virginia Uncovered" online journalism project. Last year, the foundation provided an $85,000 grant.
University officials announced the grant Monday.
Participating newspapers receive help creating multimedia content for their Websites.
The Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism began the project in 2008. More than a dozen newspapers now participate.
