Is it ever a good time to be a newspaper publisher? It seems that every turn there's another existential threat; it's a snakes and ladders board with only snakes. Every step forward seems to somehow put the publisher further back down the road.
Case in point? Three major UK-based news publishers, who over the course of the past week have released news of cuts, setbacks and write-downs despite each having had some positive news earlier in the year.
