Whipple to Head Denver Newspaper Agency

By: E&P Staff Harry Whipple, former publisher of the Cincinnati Enquirer, will head a two-newspaper joint operating agreement (JOA) in Denver.

Whipple will be president and CEO of the Denver Newspaper Agency, which manages the business and production operations of the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post. Scripps and MediaNews Group own equal parts of the Denver JOA.

Most recently, Whipple was president of Newspaper Agency Corp., a JOA that manages business and production operations for the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret Morning News in Salt Lake City.

He replaces Kirk MacDonald, who is leaving to start his own business.
