Will Michigan Papers Drop Publishing Days?

Posted
By: E&P Staff Detroit may not be the only town that trims back on its newspaper frequency in Michigan.

The latest Web rumor to surface is coming from the Advance Newspaper camp. It holds that The Flint Journal, Bay City Times and Saginaw News are expected to announce next week they are cutting back to publishing on three days only: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, alleges a post from the blog "freefromeditors." Reportedly the papers are looking to eliminate positions too.

Flint Journal Publisher David Sharp said the blog post was unfounded. "We haven't made any announcements at all," he told E&P. "We have a lot of people looking at things."

Sharp said that several committees were looking at various strategies but no decisions have been made.
