Wisconsin Loses Another Print Plant

Posted
By: E&P Staff BlueLine Media Holdings, parent company of The Daily News, Rhinelander, Wis., is ending printing and inserting at the paper's Northwoods Media plant as of Feb. 15, when those operations transfer to the company's Wolf River Offset plant, in Shawano.

Wolf River Offset in Shawano operates three shifts a day, six days a week, serving commercial customers and BlueLine weeklies and dailies.

Rhinelander will lose three full-time and three part-time jobs to the consolidation, according to Publisher Greg Mellis. Besides the Daily News, the press in Rhinelander also prints Crandon and Forest County's weekly Forest Republican.

Reporting its plant's pending closing, the Daily News also noted that the publisher of the city's weekly Star Journal and Hodag Buyers Guide closed its Rhinelander printing operation several years ago, when it moved production to Waupaca.
