The Wisconsin Newspaper Association welcomes two new directors: Holly Henschen, director of communications, and Julia Hunter, director of member services.
Henschen, a four-year Madison resident, hails from central Illinois and made it to America’s Dairyland by way of New York City. There, she worked for Dow Jones Newswires as an agricultural commodities reporter covering the trading of coffee, sugar, cocoa and cotton futures. Henschen also contributed to
The Wall Street Journal and
Barron’s. In Madison, Henschen was employed at the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association as education coordinator from 2010 to 2013, when she took the position of editor at
Food Manufacturing magazine and website. Henschen, a 2006 graduate of Eastern Illinois University’s International Relations and Comparative Politics Master’s Program, held various editorial positions at
The Daily Eastern News, including editor-in-chief in summer 2004. She worked as a staff writer at the
Decatur (Illinois)
Herald & Review in the summer of 2005.
“Newsfolk are my kind of people,” Henschen said. “Few groups of professionals are more impassioned, industrious and dedicated.”
Hunter, a native of Newburgh, Indiana, most recently spent more than two years as a deputy city clerk in New Berlin, Wisconsin, where she also managed community relations. Previously, she served in a variety of capacities, from news editor to watchdog reporter, at newspapers including the
Kentucky New Era in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the
Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, New York, and the
Rockford Register Star in Rockford, Illinois. Before she interned at the
Evansville (Indiana)
Courier & Press, Hunter graduated in 2007 with a degree in print journalism from the University of Southern Indiana, where she served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper,
The Shield.
“Newspapers have always had my heart, and I couldn't be happier to be working with them again,” Hunter said.
