By: Mark Fitzgerald Publication Could Lose Funding
The Advance-Titan, the student newspaper at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, faces a student government vote Tuesday that could put it out of business.
"Basically, this newspaper could be wiped out on this campus," said Editor in Chief Amy Holschbach. If the Oshkosh Student Association (OSA) votes that the paper is no longer a recognized student organization, the 8,500-circulation weekly could lose its campus office space, equipment and next year's $8,100 operating subsidy, Holschbach said.
The local daily paper has offered support, Oshkosh Northwestern Executive Editor Stewart Rieckman said.
Critical of the paper for several years, some OSA senators were especially angered last month by stories about a felony fraud charge, later dismissed, that was lodged against the OSA vice president.
