Multi-channel publishing specialist WoodWing Software, Zaandam, The Netherlands, is promoting its work in preparing tablet editions tailored to the various aspect ratios of new devices' screens.
"WoodWing has developed unique multi-screen functionality to efficiently create high-quality designs for multiple screens without the need to duplicate and redesign layouts for each device or aspect ratio," WoodWing President Erik Schut said in a statement.
At IFRA Expo in Hamburg, Germany, WoodWing also is showing its upcoming tablet solution for newspapers. So far, some papers have used WoodWing's Digital Magazine Tools for tablets (part of its Enterprise cross-media publishing system). To meet demand for feed-based tablet publishing, WoodWing is now expanding its offering with newsfeed functionality.
Content Station plays an important role in the creation process. A new Newsfeed Publisher module has been added to efficiently manage newsfeeds. Live newsfeeds and issue-based feeds are supported to allow several daily outputs (e.g., morning, lunch, evening editions). WoodWing's high-performance Content Delivery Service is used to serve the feeds to tablet devices worldwide.
