WoodWing Releases SmartConnection Enterprise for Blended Media

Posted
By: E&P Staff WoodWing Software, Zaandam, the Netherlands, has introduced the latest generation of its Smart Connection Enterprise editorial solution, with emphasis on tools for "blended media" - the convergent use of print, Web, audio and video.

Available immediately via WoodWing's partners, Smart Connection Enterprise 5.0 fully supports Adobe CS3 applications. "Dossier' enables creation of a multimedia package of articles, images, audio and video related to a single story "while maintaining an individual workflow for each of these items," according to WoodWing.

Editing enhancements include a more streamlined Web Editor, with automatic save and recovery and a larger work area. Adobe InCopy is now Web enabled, for creating and managing hyperlinks. A new Smart Links feature eliminates problems caused by working with high-res images in InDesign over a slow network connection or the Web: Only the InDesign preview will be used when working on a page, with large image files transmitted only when absolutely necessary.

Users also now may vary edition page numbering by simply changing the viewed edition in InDesign to update the numbering. Other enhancements are improved licensing, better management of editions, access rights on meta data, and additional queries options.
