'World Is Flat' Book Leads to Online Venture for Friedman

Posted
By: E&P Staff New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman's best-selling "The World is Flat" book is inspiring an online program.

HollywoodReporter.com (a site with the same ownership as EditorandPublisher.com) said in a story today that Friedman will conduct video interviews hosted by MSNBC.com. Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates is slated to be the first guest when the interviews launch this September.

The first question in each interview will be, "When did you realize the world was flat?," a reference to the globalization trends Friedman looks at in his book. Video will be supplemented with related articles and reader comments. Ads will also appear on the site.

Friedman's column is syndicated via the New York Times News Service.
