'WSJ' Hires ESPN Executive

By: E&P Staff Chris Collins has been named vice president of multimedia sales at The Wall Street Journal, effective Oct. 16. Collins, 43, was most recently vice president of multimedia sales at ESPN. He will report to Dow Jones Chief Revenue Officer Michael Rooney.

Collins will be one of three New York-based executives responsible for selling the print edition of the Journal and the Journal's digital network.

"Chris brings to the Journal a proven track record of crating unique sales programs across multiple platforms at ESPN," Rooney said in a statement. "Our research proves that when advertisers buy across the Journal franchise, they spend an average of 20% more across our print and online products."

Collins joined ESPN in 1997 as an account director. Prior to that, he served as a multimedia sales representative for Bloomberg Financial Markets. He has also worked at Medical Times magazine, Men's Health, and Cosmopolitan.
