By: E&P Staff The Wall Street Journal unveiled its glossy magazine WSJ., in an attempt to go after luxury advertisers and take direct aim at The New York Times successful T franchise.
The glossy will be disturbed in Saturday's Weekend Journal to subscribers in 17 of the largest markets on Sept. 6. It will eventually go monthly by mid-2009. The Journal is taking this magazine global in part to hedge against the United State's dismal economy. On Sept. 5, 160,000 copies of WSJ., will be distributed in the Journal's Asian and European editions.
"The broad spectrum of advertisers committed to the inaugural issue and future issues is a testimonial to the strength of the brand and the quality of journalism the Journal has provided its global readers for more than century," Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, publisher of WSJ., said in a statement.
