By: E&P Staff The Wall Street Journal appointed an associate publisher for its upcoming glossy magazine Pursuits. Jamie Friedman Altschul will assume the position overseeing the day-to-day sales and marketing of the magazines slated to launch Sept. 6, 2008.
Altschul, 31, joined the Journal is 2006 as multimedia sales director -- growing the consumer advertising category by 96% during her tenure. Prior to that, she was the sales development direct at Vanity Fair and an advertising director at Town & Country.
"Pursuits will extend the Journal's highly successful business of life franchise and attract more luxury advertisers to reach the Journal's affluent and influential audience," Michael Rooney, chief revenue officer at Dow Jones, said in a statement. "As advertisers seek new vehicles, having the right sales executive to educate the marketplace about Pursuits is pivotal," Rooney added about Altschul.
