By: E&P Staff The Wall Street Journal Online today launched ?Environmental Capital,? a new blog designed to break and analyze news about businesses and investors and what they?re doing in the new ?green? world. The blog can be found at www.blogs.wsj.com/environmentalcapital.
Edited by Jeffrey Ball, the Wall Street Journal?s environmental news editor, ?Environmental Capital? will focus on how businesses and industries are adapting to climate change and other environmental issues, and what impact those efforts will have on consumers and the planet.
Wall Street Journal reporter Keith Johnson is the site?s lead writer. The blog also will draw on other Journal and Dow Jones Newswires writers with expertise in such topics as oil and gas, carbon markets, and energy policy. Ball will also contribute and host a podcast with Johnson, recapping news and providing a preview of future issues.
?The topic of today?s environment and how it impacts all of us ?- personally and professionally ?- has never been hotter, and we expect 'Environmental Capital' to appeal to a wide range of interested parties, from executives at traditional and emerging energy companies to investors and policy makers around the world,? Almar Latour, managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Online, said in a statement. ?Our goal is to help separate hype from reality along the way.?
The Wall Street Journal is further exploring the ?business of the environment? at its inaugural conference on the subject, ECO:nomincs: Creating Environmental Capital, taking place in March. Environmental Capital will blog the event on-site in Santa Barbara, Calif.
