By: Wayne Robins OpinionJournal.com Launches Friday
That thunder you hear on your right is the sound of The Wall Street
Journal's unabashedly partisan editorial page bellowing online.
Tomorrow the Journal launches OpinionJournal.com, edited by the staff
of the daily's combatively conservative editorial page.
Original content for the free site will by provided by weekly columnists
Peggy Noonan, Mark Helprin, Tom Bray and Seth Lipsky. WSJ's editor and
keeper of faith, Robert Bartley, and Paul Gigot, well-known Pulitzer
Prize winning columnist and television personality ,will also write.
There will be daily columns on politics and the media by editorial page
staffers John Fund and Dorothy Rabinowitz, respectively. In a statement
released by Dow Jones, the Journal's parent company, Bartley said: 'OpinionJournal.com will establish a pre-eminent position in e-opinion
for the Wall Street Journal and the principles of 'free people, free
markets' in which we believe.'
In addition to its original content, the site will offer a list of
about 10 news and opinion links each day chosen by the Journal editorial
page editors. Though OpinionJournal.com is free, it will contain links
to Wall Street Journal news stories that require an online subscription.
