By: E&P Staff In an article in today's Wall Street Journal, reporter Pui Wing Tam describes how private investigators hired by Hewlett-Packard executives spied on her and her family in order to determine the source of a boardroom leak.
Tam recounts a recent meeting at H-P's outside law firm in which she was told about the snooping tactics employed by the firm hired by the company. She writes that she was told H-P's investigators tried at least five times to get access to her phone records, succeeding in several instances. The agents also had pictures and video footage of her, and carried out "pre-trash inspections" at her home.
"Whether the sleuths ever encountered my toddler's dirty diapers, H-P said it doesn't know," writes Tam.
