By: E&P Staff Dow Jones & Co. and Tribune Co. announced Wednesday they would collaborate on a new weekly section for the the New York, Chicago and Los Angeles editions of Spanish-language Hoy on Thursdays.
The section, to make its debut in March, will be written and produced The Wall Street Journal. It will consist of eight tabloid-size pages of editorial and advertising and be titled "The Wall Street Journal." Hoy is owned by Chicago-based Tribune Co.
Topics covered will include personal finance and technology, careers, small business and other areas of interest to Hispanic readers. The stories will be selected and translated by Journal editors.
"We are excited to serve this growing and important Spanish-language market and are pleased to be working with the dynamic Hoy newspaper group," William E. Casey Jr., vice president/special editions of the Journal, said in a statement. "We expect to add other partners to the Journal's Spanish-language advertising network in the weeks ahead."
The Journal already handles a weekly section for The Washington Hispanic and has published a daily Spanish-language section, The Wall Street Journal Americas, in Latin American partner newspapers since 1994.
"Hoy's commitment to its readers is to provide news and information on matters that are important to Hispanics in the United States, including information on personal finance, technology, careers and small business," said Louis Sito, Tribune Publishing vice president/Hispanic Media and publisher of Hoy.
