W.Va. Reporter Alleges County Official Got Her Fired

Posted
By: A former newspaper reporter is suing the Greenbrier County Commission and its former president, claiming he pressured her employer to fire her.

Lawyers for Stephanie R. Ferrell Stover, who worked for the West Virginia Daily News and Greenbrier Valley Ranger in Lewisburg in 2006 and 2007, filed the complaint in Greenbrier County Circuit Court.

Stover?s suit claims that former commission President Lowell Rose sought to get her fired after she sent him an e-mail asking why a Rainelle resident wasn?t permitted to speak at a commission meeting.

She is seeking an unspecified amount in punitive damages.

Rose says he told the papers? publisher about the e-mail, but denies he sought Stover?s firing.

Calls to the papers were not returned in time for this story.
