By: E&P Staff Xconomy, which provides information about local personalities, companies, and trends in the high-tech economy through a global network of localized blogs, events, conferences and other initiatives, will supply news and feature stories for both SignOnSanDiego.com and print editions of The San Diego Union-Tribune.
Xconomy San Diego Editor Bruce V. Bigelow, who spent 18 years in the Union-Tribune newsroom, noted on Xconomy.com that the San Diego syndication deal follows by two months a similar syndication arrangement between the network's year-old Seattle hub the Seattle Times (an earlier deal was reached with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer -- now solely an online publication).
Launched in Boston two years ago Saturday, Xconomy counts more than 170,000 unique monthly visitors to its three local sites and national page, which features top content from the three cities.
Calling the Union-Tribune and SignOnSanDiego the region's largest providers of news and Union-Tribune Senior Editor for News Lora Cicalo said in a statement: "Our partnership with Xconomy is a great way to extend that reach to new audiences and provide additional business news focused on technology innovation."
