By: E&P Staff The Times Recorder of Zanesville, Ohio, has announced that Rick Szabrak has been named general manager of the Times Recorder and Coshocton Tribune, effective Monday. Szabrak will remain general manager of the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette.

The Times Recorder also announced that Pam James has been named managing editor of the Zanesville and Coshocton publications, effective July 20.

The announcement came as part of a management shakeup at Gannett's Newspaper Network of Central Ohio (NNCO). Szabrak, who joined NNCO in 2005, replaces John Merriweather, who was promoted to director of operations for the Zanesville, Coshocton and Lancaster newspapers, as well as the Newark Advocate and Chillicothe Gazette.

Rick Szabrak relishes the critical role the local newspaper plays in the community," Linda Greiwe, NNCO president and publisher, told the Times Recorder. "We are excited to have Rick committed to getting involved and serving the community."

James, 49, replaces Len LaCara, who has been promoted to online and audience development editor for all 10 NNCO newspapers and 13 related Web sites. A native of Zanesville, James has worked at the Times Recorder and Tribune since 1987. She had served as community conversation editor since 2007.

"We are focused on maintaining our position as the region's most comprehensive source of news, information and conversation," James told the paper.
